Club SBM are delighted that Premiership and England footballer Kevin Phillips has joined the club as an Ambassador. Kevin joined Birmingham City in 2008 from West Bromwich Albion where in the previous season he scored 24 times in 38 appearances. He continued this goal scoring form in his 2008 at St Andrews where he finished the season as top goal scorer.
Although having had successful spells at both Aston Villa and Southampton he is perhaps best known for his time at the Stadium of Light with Sunderland. “Super Kev”, as he is affectionately known, scored no less than 132 goals for the club and during the 99-00 season at Sunderland he won the premiership golden boot for top goal scorer. In the same season added the European Golden Boot to the accolade, marking him out as one of the top strikers in the game.
A huge fan of Golf, Kevin tries to play as often as his football permits “I’m a big fan of golf, there’s almost nothing like being on the golf course with some of the boys enjoying the course, the banter and the competition!” said Kevin before adding "I’m looking forward to taking advantage of my membership with Club SBM as I really enjoy golf, especially playing at top class clubs. The fact that I can bring 3 friends with me to play at no extra cost is fantastic. The membership is going to be great as I’m also just getting into the horses and I know that George will give me a great introduction to the racing family.”
Kevin will be a regular at the Club SBM member events.
